Begin Again This Fall

Updated: Aug 23, 2023

The Autumn is a a time of endings and beginnings. Sunny Summer days are followed by cool crisp mornings and chilly evenings. Green leaves begin their colorful transition to golds, reds, oranges and brown. Shorts and tee-shirts are replaced by jackets and jeans. The Fall season also brings nervous excitement as children and teens get acquainted with new teachers, classmates and sometimes even a new school.

It is a bittersweet time as we say goodbye to the carefree ways of the Summer and then busy ourselves in life and all of its daily responsibilities and challenges.

Adults are often enrolling in classes, embarking on new careers and beginning new projects in the Autumn, while weddings, work conferences and travel are usually planned in these cooler months.

The Fall is a season of change. The lights, smells and sounds are markedly different each day while the air seems to vibrate at a transitional frequency.

There is movement all around. What remains the same is us. We may be a year older, a bit wiser, happier, sadder, healthier, sicker, surrounded by people or all alone.

We still remain us.

The Autumn is perfect time to take stock of ourselves, our lives, our surroundings and our attitude. What can we do differently? What can we do better? How can we enrich others and therefore enrich ourselves. The essence of us is the same, but we are evolving and reinventing ourselves continuously, just as the trees shed their leaves as they prepare for new growth. We are also meant to reevaluate, reassess and renew ourselves for growth.

As the days grow shorter and colder, open yourself up to new environments, people and opportunities. Open your mind to new books, ideas and thoughts. Be brave, open your heart to new hopes and dreams. And pray, it always helps with new beginnings.
